Decor ideas....

Ok, so speaking of "ideas" have y'all ever heard anyone say "idear"..like, "wow, that's such a great eye-dee-urr".....k just asking. Because I have. And yes, I have spent (limited) time in some sketchy "hills have eyes" places...but just wondering if anyone else has witnessed that pronunciation.....ANYWAY...

I am repainting my bedroom the color "dove gray"....well that's what I've called it at least...it looks like this...

It's technically called "French gray" which is even sexier but I like doves.

SOOO, being as my room will be French/Dove gray, I am looking for some art to hang on a blank wall. All of my furniture is silver/grey/mirror/lucite/white and I have some funky accents. My walls are currently a very light ice blue, but I want to go grey so I can add more funky accents.

I am obsessed with Foxes. Strangly enough, I don't browse with Firefox (that was supposed to be funny...yeah). SO, I found some cool as funky fox prints on Etsy. And I need opinions. Some are printed on French books, which is even BETTER since I am a total francophile....OPINIONS SIL VOUS PLAIT! (that means please in Francais).

#1

#2
#3 (it's a map of Paris)
#4
#5
#6 (pretty obsessed)

SO, I will likely end up getting a few, but I want to know what y'all think!? Opinions please!

The Hipster Dilemma....(as seen on my new tumblr!)

I’m confused.
Broad statement, right? So here’s what I’m confused about. It’s the Hipsters.
Before you go out and get all offended and all “oh no she didn’t”, lemme break it down for you.
I just don’t get the Hipster movement. And here’s the kicker….They seem to be EVERYWHERE nowadays. Like when I went bicycle shopping the other day and the dude helping me (bless his poor heart by the way, because I am bicycle challenged and had no idea what the eff he was saying) kept saying “well, you might not like this, it’s just a hipster bike and there’s no real use for it” but by looking at him, I could’ve sworn he was part of the hipster movement. See where I get confused? I totes would’ve called this guy a hipster (not to his face) but I’ve NEVER heard someone call themselves a hipster. Is that bad? People talk, act, dress and apparently now bike like hipsters, but no one calls them self one….ummmm que?
Some more hipster questions I have. Please feel free to educate me on the subject. To be honest, I’m fascinated by the term….
1.) Am I a hipster since I have Chuck Taylors in my closet and own several vintage plaid shirts?
2.) Why are mustaches so hipster? Someone said it’s because they’re “ironic”. I have a Master’s Degree in literature and I perpetually fail to see the irony. Since when is facial hair ironic? Are beards ironic? Soul patches are creepy, but are they ironic now too? Are girls with mustaches in need of a good wax hipsters now too?
3.) WHY DO HIPSTERS RIDE FIXED GEAR BICYCLES? I NEED TO KNOW.
4.) Why do hipsters go to indie concerts and then have no idea about the music they’re listening to??? I went to a concert this weekend and I was awesome enough to be included in a hipster conversation, and NONE of them knew EITHER of the 2 bands playing.
5.) Why do hipsters like irony so much? So many of them love “Ironic tattoos”….why?
6.) Why do hipsters all wear the same type of glasses? Most people don’t even look good in those frames. Is it because of Kanye?
Et tu Kanye?
Is he an honorary hipster or full fledged card carrying hipster? Do hipsters hate or love him? If it wasn’t Kanye, then WHO STARTED WITH THE GLASSES!?
7.) Why do people love to hate hipsters?
8.) Why is Pabst Blue Ribbon considered “hipster beer”???
9.) Do all hipsters shop at the same stores? Are you not totally hipster if your clothes aren’t all vintage? oh crap….I love vintage clothing, am I a hipster?!
10.) AM I A HIPSTER!?! What does it mean!??!
*Disclaimer*
I don’t love or hate hipsters. This is a case study.
oh…and no hipsters or animals were hurt in this investigation.

Mini Post #2...But you'll like it. TRUST. Maybe.

Ok, so here's a mini-post, because I've been under a rock studying. I'm praying I don't forget how to be in public after my hermit week. Blech.

Anywhooz, you know how when you're delirious/cracked the eff out/ fighting ADD like whoah? You know how your mind wanders into the far depths of your psyche and you think of the most random stuff? Know how when you're cracked the eff out/stressed like whoa, you have cray cray dreams/nightmares that are pertinent to your current sitch? Well, my dreams have involved Drew Barrymore and Tom Hanks....weird. No correlation to what I've been studying. At all. My brain is broken. Or something like that.

I DIGRESS...

So I know y'all don't really listen to me when I blab and blab about my music picks of the week and my "Musique Du Jour" segments, and that's fine. We can't all have fantabulous taste in  music. (See what I did there? I stroked my own ego....yeah. It just happened.) SO, my cracked out self has decided that once this shitstorm of a month is over, and I'm back to normal levels of cray cray, I think I'm going to start a music blog. Thoughts? Should I? Shan't? Spill.

In the meantime, fill your ears with this while I go back to my dark smart cave.

"Tie Up My Hands" by Starsailor. What a sexy song. I'm OBSESSIONATED. I added the video so you lazies can listen NOW. If not, go to www.lala.com DO IT.

A Is For Art

Soooo....My homeskillet Cher over at "The Only Girl" really liked my Doodle from a couple days ago, so I told her I'd doodle for her! So here it is...

It's prettier in big form, Cher, I'll e-mail all the copies to you!

So it's Double You Tea Eff Wednesday:

  • It's finally warmer here in Houston (yaythankthesweetsweetlord) but it's raining...WTF weather!?
  • I really. really. really. need to have a job come May. Srsly. WTF miz miz economy!?
  • I'm getting my hair cut today and I can't decide what look to go for...WTF indecision!?
Here are my favorite looks. I tried to find people with my hair texture and length. I want to keep my mermaid locks intact for summer. Because Mermaid Hair is the BEST. I will never tire of Merm Locks. Evah.
The Contenders:

Sideswept Longer Bangs. I heart this.
My hair is wavy like these, so I like the look? No?

More Mermaid Locks. Love Minka Kelly.

Do those all look the same? Maybe. So I guess I have my answer. All I know is I'm super nervie to get my hair done because I don't trust people with my Mermaid Locks. So wish me lots of LockLove.

OH! I solved the MYSTERY OF THE WHITE POWDER IN JULES BEAR'S OFFICE TOILET!
Yeah. Call me Supah Sleuth. I went to tinkle yesterday, and I saw this woman at the sink, with a huge toiletry bag, clearly had just gotten back from the gym. I realized she goes to the gym during lunch, changes in the stall, and "freshens" her lady bits with baby powder because I SAW the baby powder in her toiletry bag. Did I mention she feels the need to spray nasty body spray? Like A LOT of nasty body spray? BLECHHH.

I'll take a pic of my new coiffe latah!

The White Powder Mystery....

Lovahs,

I have my LAST MIDTERM OF LIFE in 3 hours. So I'm cramming....and blogging. This will be my last post till Sunday or so (don't cry, I'll be back in FULL hurricane force next week!) I will be working a tent at the HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO, which is a pretty big deal here in H-town. While you're missing me, I'd like you to help me solve this mystery. We'll call it "The Mystery of the White Powder in the Ladies Room In Jules Bear's Office"....

So. The ladies' room in our building has three stalls. We share the restroom with one other floor. You with me? K good. SO, somehow, someway, always in the afternoon, I find a sprinkling of WHITE POWDER on the toilet seat of the very far right stall. Umm....?????. Is someone hitting the slopes at lunchtime for a quick drug induced pick-me-up? Is it baby powder? Is a baby using the toilet? Is someone sprinkling their lady parts with baby powder? Is it rat poison? WHAT IS IT?! Help. Please. I need to know if a Colombian drug cartel is going to invade my office, so I can be prepared with sling-blades, nun-chucks, and any other necessary items, including my invisibility cloak. Can I Get A Witness?!

Like this. but on the toilet seat. HELP!!!

Now. Since I don't have much time for stories. I will show you some pictures. It's my day for show and tell.
EXHIBIT A:

This is what I drink my tea out of every morning. It's really really big, you can't really tell. But it keeps my tea hot. Oh what's that? It's got a pic of my boyfriend on it? Oh yeah, no big deal....I mean I know most people don't have pics of their boyfriend on their tea cups, but he's not a "normal boyfriend". Sometimes I am sipping my tea and I look over and people are giving me the side eye because they're probz jealous of my boyfriend tea cup. Aren't you?

EXHIBIT B:

Last night. I was studying for my midterm. I got a wee bit ADD....And remember that song I told you to listen to??? "Shark In The Water" by VV Brown? Well I'm obsessed. And I'm also OBSESSED with the new Robin Thicke album "Sex Therapy" jumphopskip over to www.lala.com  and listen to it for free NOW. ESPECIALLY the song "It's in the Mornin'" I have been listening to these two songs on repeat for 2 days now. GO. NOW. You'll thank me and want to kiss me on the face.

Now I must return to crammage for this exam, then I'm off to be my little cowgirl self. (Wow, can you tell I'm cracked out....!?) So, yee-haw and I'll be back soon!

My Bad...

Friends and Lovahs, Lovahs and Friends,

I'm going to apologize in advance for bad blogger behavior (BBB). I've had a cray-cray week, and I'm trying to get my life together before this weekend. I know you're thinking, "But Jules Bears, what's going on this weekend that's so important you have to be a sucky blogger?" Well friends.......I'M GOING TO EFFING MARDI GRAS. I know...contain yo-selves. I can hardly believe it either. In fact, I don't really believe it, but it's happening apparently. I've NEVER been to Mardi Gras, and of course I am lucky enough to go the year the Saints (Who Dat!?) win the big game....I feel like a lucky little kitten. (yeah I don't know what a lucky little kitten has to do with this...bear with me). So, before I'm absent from the blogosphere, let me tell you some thangs:

Not no, but HELL NO.

  • thank you all so much for commenting on my shistey date post. It was miserable, but looking back and laughing is always the best part. PLUS I firmly believe in "If you wanna see the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain".
  • I will NOT be flashing anyone for beads. I srsly don't care enough to expose myself to randoms, especially because I'm going to be a celebrity and I don't need people digging that shit up from my past.
  • I'm allergic to rum, so therefore I'm allergic to "hurricanes" and "hand grenades" and I'd like to REMEMBER my weekend thank you very much.
  • I'm secretly nervous I'm going to get lost and abducted and initiated into some weird circus cult. For realz.
  • Any Mardi-Gras advice would be more than welcome!!! Y'all are the best EVAH!
  • Double You Tea Eff Wednesdays will be back in FULL SWING next week.

Double You Tea Eff Wednesday and Silver Linings

Here we are, another hump-day. I swear, if the weather in this town doesn't take a turn towards sunny-ville soon, I'm going to go totally cray-cray and become a hermit and never leave Merlot, Chardonnay, or my pajamas. I've now crossed the line from pale to total translucence, and soon my real identity (vamp) will be exposed. And then I'd have to change the blog to "Life in a Coffin" or "Life at the Blood Bank" and that'd be totes inconvenient. I feel so gross when I'm pale, and that is NOT a good thing. at.all. Sarah will make fun of me for going to "Darque Tan" (pronounced dar-kwa) so I have to wait for the real thing. So now for featured Double Ewe Tea Effs:

uhh...no. Pale is fug. At least for me. PLUS it exposes my vamp-ness, and I don't need the Volturi barking up my tree right now. srsly.

  • Houston has officially become Forks, WA, and I am beginning to forget what the sun feels like. WTF weather?
  • Technically speaking, I am a "senior" in my Master's Program since it's my last.semester.ever. So, logically, I am suffering from an EXTREME case of "senioritis"...it's only the 3rd week of the term. WTF senioritis coming so early?? (That's what she said...sorry couldn't help myself. Shout out to Carissa and Stacy who both KNOW that TWSS will never.get.old.EVAH.)
  • My hair has grown like a million inches in the last few months and my hair usually grows at a snaaaaail's pace. The only person who I trust to cut my hair works in Nashville (Renee at "The Loft" I love you, NO ONE cuts my hair like you do...) If any of you readers live in Houston and know of someone who won't leave me looking like I had a date with a weed-eater, holla atcha girl. WTF lack of skillful, hairdressers in Houston and WTF to those who charge 5 bajillion dollars to cut hair?!
A week ago, I took my new phone into Verizon because I was having trouble figuring it out. The dude who helped me was helpful, but then, today, in the middle of class, I received an email from him where he goes "hey, what's up, how's the new phone treating you :) If you need more help, you know I'll help you out..." Well, see, problem is, I actually meant to go in because I'm still having an issue, and now I'm weirded out that he e-mailed me and included an emoticon...Emoticons weird me out. So now I'm going to have to go to ANOTHER location to ask my questions. Am I weird? Can I Get A Witness?

Random Observation: Sometimes, when you want something, you can't wait for it to jump in your lap. Sometimes, you have to break some rules and just go for it. And sometimes, when you do this, it will make you cry, but sometimes it will make you smile. And when you take a chance and it makes you smile, there is no better feeling. I've had some black clouds over my head the past few weeks, but I finally bit the bullet and got a smile out of it. And even though I don't know how things will REALLY end, one smile is better than another day on my shit-tractor. I may fall on my ass in the long run, but I can't look back and regret not trying.

Chanson Du Jour:
"Resistance"- Muse
"Are You F*cking Kidding Me" - Kate Miller-Heidke (Carrissa, do your effing homework and look this song up)
"Dimestore Diamond" - Gossip
"Cosmic Love" - Florence and the Machine
"Company I Keep"- White Rabbits
"Home"- Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
"So Insane"- Discovery

OK so I had to add this: On my way to work this morning, walking through campus in the FREEZING COLD WIND (me.no.likey) I'm fairly certain (like 99.998989999999 % sure) that I saw Russell Brand AND Bubba Sparxx walking amongst the commonfolk. I couldn't fish my camera out of my bag because my claw/hand was frozen to my tea mug. Can I Get A Witness?

Lots to Do People, I'm Counting on YOU!

Ok Folks (yeah I said folks)

I have questions, and I need your answers. And then I'll tell you a story. Capiche? Word.

1. I get a new phone next week. I get to pick whatever I want. I currently have a blackberry curve, and I heart it. I'm on the Verizon Network (Can you hear me now? Good.) And so I'm picking between the New DROID, the Blackberry Tour, and the new Blackberry Curve. I need you to pick for me because when things get down to the wire, I get more nervous/neurotic than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

BlackBerry Curve 8500 smartphone

2. I need to find a job by May, because that's when I graduate. I will then have a Bachelor's and a Masters in Spanish Lit...useful...I know...ugh. But I do freelance writing from time to time, interned at a magazine, and have worked in retail management. I love clothes, music, and people. Suggestions. Oh yeah, and I need to make some cash. Please don't suggest stripping because I'm getting desperate and desperate times call for desperate/gross measures, and I don't want to change the blog name from "Life on a Hanger" to "Life on the Pole". K thanks.

3. Bathing suit season is quickly approaching and I need to order one stat. That way, I can try it on anywhere between 3-a million times a week and stare at myself till I look good in it. I'm picking between these....

Does VS have a good return policy? Anyone?

4. I want to change the handwriting/font of my blog title, but I'm terrified to trying it myself and ruining my blog. Help!? I want cute handwriting, not times new roman...I'm lost

Ok, I was going to tell a story, but I don't want to overload you, plus you've got loads of work to do by answering my questions. Y'all rock. For realz yo. Peace out. Did anyone listen to RATAT? They're soooo good!!!!

An Amalgamation of Sorts...

First order of the day.. 2 questions/letters.

Dear People Walking In the Mall Yesterday While I Was Trying to Run Errands,

Did you learn to walk in a field of cows? Do you have any bovine family members? Or are you just that thick in the head? When you hear/see someone walking behind you and giving you evil death stares, don't block the entire path, don't turn and look dumb (you might have not been trying to look dumb..but you do) and don't give a blank stare...I'm trying to walk past you. Step aside, and let me through please!!! I know I'm a ridiculously fast walker and I look like I'm a bat out of hell, but just as I am trying as hard as I possibly can to respect your bovine walking habits, try to respect my speedier walking habits. Thanks so much, oh and FYI..."Bui Yah Kah" is not haute couture. Just sayin'....

Dear Woman (Beotch) Working at Starbucks,

I treat myself once a week to a sweet latte. So, as you can imagine, when I got in line yesterday to order my treat, I was pretty damn stoked. LAST WEEK, I was introduced to the Creme Brulee Latte at my normal Starbie's location. So, this week, I wanted to repeat the order. The man taking my money said you had the Creme Brulee Latte...so you can also imagine how offended I was when you looked at me and said "It's not out yet"...and don't look all surprised when I bark back..." That's funny, because I had one LAST week"...I know you don't know me, but you don't wanna mess with this. So, when you tell me "Other Starbucks locations may have started it, but we haven't" I'm pretty ridiculously annoyed   enraged...HOW HARD is it to add a different flavor of syrup to my Latte??? Seriously?!?! Are you the Dwight Schrute of Starbie's?? My Vanilla Latte should've been on the house, and you should be no longer working at Starbie's...so there. sip on THAT, beotch.

I just want my FREAKING coffee.

As you may be able to note, I definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I got 3 hours of sleep, and my diva puppy decided she wanted to play fetch at 3 am...just because I'm awake doesn't mean I want to play. BUT, on the upside, it's chilly out so I can wear fall/winter clothes!

Later, I'll post a Tale From The Hanger because it's been a while!

Also, has anyone actually SEEN in person, the Jimmy Choo line for H&M? We Texans don't have an H&M so I'm sad that I can't experience them firsthand!!!

A Question....

The city I live in has had some nasty weather. Houston isn't exactly the first place you think of when you want "nice" fall weather. I'm kind of bitter about this. However, we all have to make do with what we are given. But sometimes, we fail. Miserably. This brings me to my question of the week. Cropped Lace Leggings. WHY?

I don't understand them. Really. I mean I can see how they would look good....ok maybe I don't. They kind of freak me out to be honest. I saw someone wearing them recently and I promptly became "that girl" because I was flat out staring. in horror. Maybe it was the combination of the lace tights with sneakers, a mini skirt and a forgettable top...but they scare me. I love lace, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I like having my legs encased in lace. Maybe these sentiments are a product of my experiences. Here's the real reason they scare me/freak me out. They make me think of this image from the movie "Heartbreakers" (thank you late 90's for producing such a...blockbuster).

You can't look at that and tell me it's not creepy. You just can't.

So are cropped lace leggings warm? Comfy? When you take them off, do you have lacy imprints on your legs? Do people find them attractive? When men go out, do they think to themselves, "Man, if I could only find myself a looker with a pair of those cropped lace leggings..." I mean I'm fairly certain men appreciate lace on other items (lingerie..shocker I know). I just don't see how they work. Maybe I'm in the wrong here and I've clearly missed out on an opportunity to be fashion forward, but I'm going to take my chances on this one and let this trend pass me by. I think there may be other ways to be fashionable without wearing my lingerie on my legs... Thoughts?
